Tuesday Afternoon Update

Here is what I know at this point:

1. They are calling the infection a "fungal" infection and working hard at treating it with the right medications.

2. They are contemplating moving the ECMO tube from the chest to the neck.

3. At 1:00 PM they were do a scope of the lung through the nose to see what was happening in the lungs.

4. The Berlin heart has been shipped, but I am not sure that they can do that procedure until the infection is cleared up.

Jan said that Laura was really discouraged today. I think that is where we all are at the moment. It doesn't change our confidence in our great God, but our "human" side sometimes gets in the way.

I know what a blessing it is for me to see your comments, so know that for the kids, it means so much. I know that hundreds of people are visiting the site. Hey, guys - you are in our prayers. We felt so out of touch last week when we were on vacation, but you came to my mind several times a day and I prayed each time I thought of Lindsay. Tell Tanner I'm sending him some "pops"!

Lindsay, Jon, Laura & Gang,
I am praying for you through out each day. My family in Tennessee has been passing the word and lifting you up to the Lord. Last weekend I was at a conference in Reading, PA. for Keswick, complete strangers were walking up asking me to tell you that they were praying for you and sending their love. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

"For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." (Isaiah 41:13)

"Let us hear the Lord Jesus speak these words to each one of us: 'I will help you. It is but a small thing for Me, your God, to help you. Consider what I have done already. What! not help you? Why, I bought you with My blood. What! not help you? I have died for you; and if I have done the greater, will I not do the lesser? Help you! It is the least thing I will ever do for you. I have done more and will do more. You require little compared with what I am ready to give. It is much for you to need, but it is nothing for me to bestow. Help you? Do not fear!"
Fear not, I am with thee;
Oh, be not dismayed!
For I am thy God;
I will still give thee aid
(Charles Spurgeon, Morning & Evening)

Please know that our family is praying for all of you. We have shared your story with friends who have also put all of you on their church prayer lists.

Robert and I have been praying for you as you face one hurdle after another. Thank you for keeping us updated on the blog.
Laura, I have been impressed, hearing about your caring presence in that hospital wing, offering words of encouragement to the other parents of children in medical trouble. I pray that God will bless you abundantly and answer our prayers to deliver Lindsay from this trial.
Love, Barbie Lapointe

Groens/Weltes,
I just wanted to let you all know that I am praying for you, and even though I'm not there my prayers are.

"Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." (Heb 4.14-16)

Jon and Laura- you are so much in our thoughts and prayers. Our hearts ache for all of you.
A song that meant so much to me while Joe was in Children's Hospital (quite a few years ago now) is Great is Thy Faithfulness.

Great is Thy faithfulness,
O God, my Father.
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not.
As Thou has been, Thou forever wilt be.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth.
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide.
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow.
Blessings all mine, with ten thousands besides.

Great is Thy faithfulness.
Great is Thy faithfulness.
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand has provided.
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.

Praying for God's presence to be evident to you - and for strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow.
We love you all so much.
Love, Aunt Shirley

Words seem such an inadequate way to express my feelings yet they are all we have.Have been going to stores and not buying. Jan and Laura do you believe that?
I have been called Mrs. Goodheart, wish it were true and that I could give it to you for your "Lindsay Bear".
We continue to bring your little one to the throne of grace and pray that you in Boston and the whole family will feel the Father's touch on your minds and bodies.

Dear Bill, Jan, Laura, and Jon, you have been in my thoughts and prayers often in these last days as you have been going through these deep waters. But truly our God is able to deliver and restore and build again and that is my prayer today that Lindsay's heart will be restored or rebuilt to better than new. Have been following the blog site, but this is my first time trying to send a message. Not sure how to do it so you may not even get it, but please know that my prayers are with you. Carol Bancroft

Dear Groens and Weltes,

Lindsay and your family continue to be in our prayers. I am obsessed with checking the blog several times a day! Thank you for the updates.

May God heal Lindsay and make her whole again. He is holding her in the palm of His mighty hand. May God be close to you all, and provide a restful night for all.

I was so encouraged to read your last message at noon on Thursday. Truly we have an AMAZING GOD who can and does AMAZING things. I will continue to pray for strengthening of the heart muscle and lungs. And I have been praying for wisdom beyond their own ability for the physicians and nurses who tend to her precious little body. Carol Bancroft
