Sunday Update

We appreciate the outpouring of love, encouragement, and prayers that have been extended to the kids. Several folks have emailed to ask how you can minister to the kids. Here are several suggestions:

1. If you'd like to send a card to Laura, Jon and Tanner, here is their address.

1226 First Crown Point Road
Strafford, NH 03884

2. One of our friends suggested that people still buy bracelets ($5.00) as a reminder to pray for the kids. She said she turned her bracelet inside out and just have the pink side showing. For those of you that have gone through grief, you know that it is after the services and flowers are gone, that it is the hardest.

3. Send Tanner a card. I know that he is going to really miss Lindsay.

Later on today we will post directions to the church. I am also going to see if the church will record the service so that we can put the audio on the blog for those of you that would be interested.

I know that each night the kids are reading through the blog entries. Thank you for doing that.

I am so, so sorry to hear about your darling Lindsay. The pain must be relentless, washing over you and your dear family in waves. May the God of all comfort hold you closer than ever in the days to come. All those who knew Lindsay, or followed her story online, now carry her in their hearts. God is faithful, and will not let your sweet girl be forgotten. I will definitely be praying for your children
...and for you, dear elf.

I am so sorry for you and for your family. This is a shock, to us, but not to Lindsay's Savior. Your friends at Back to the Bible will pray for you and the Welte family.

Please convey our sorrow to Jan, Zach and everyone in your family, especially to Laura and Jon. We stand with you.

I just send you an email on your myspace Laura--
I know you dont have the time to check it, but i wanted to let you know.

I really really was trying to get a flight up there to be with you on the day of the funeral. I wanted to show my support to you (as another mom, and old friend that lost a child also) Unfortunatly, the flights have none avail for Tues, and the kids are always an issue to find someone to watch them-- being they are not in daycare, since i am home full time.

I emailed you letting you know, I am here for you. When you need me, i will still be here, even if its 1 year from now.
I know the hardest time is after the funeral, and after the flowers die also, and the seasons change...even harder.
I am here for you.
My love to you and your family, and that little guy tanner. Give him lots of huggs for me too.
Sibahan-- your old friend!

Bill thanks for the info and suggestions. Will follow through.

Adult SS this morning did survey of Psalms and I shared about lindsay's homegoing and how the Lord has used so many praise Psalms these past 2 days to bless me. To God be the Glory!!

Wish I could take some of the pain away but know I am sharing it to some degree. Holding you up in prayer.

When I saw this from Carol F., I had to agree. Lindsay is free from pain, from strife, from suffering, but Not from the love and grace of God. He has her now, which as Paul said "to die is gain".

"Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day to laugh, to love or to play. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free."

This morning in church we sang "Forever", or rather they did, since I couldn't. I was thinking of Lindsay and how you show God's grace through all of this.

"Give thanks to the Lord
Our God and King
His love endures forever
For He is good, He is above all things
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise
With a mighty hand
and outstretched arm
His love endures forever
For the life that's been reborn
[Lindsay with Him in heaven]
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise
Sing praise, sing praise
Yeah
Forever God is faithful{!!}
Forever God is strong
Forever God is with us
Forever and ever
Forever

From the rising to the setting sun
His love endures forever{!!!}
BY THE GRACE OF GOD
WE [all ya'll] WILL CARRY ON
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise
Sing praise, sing praise
Yeah
Forever God is faithful
Forever God is strong
Forever God is with us
Forever and ever
Forever
....."

May you all have peace and confort in the days, weeks and years to come, especially Tanner. He's been a grat big brother, though I don't know how well he really understands....

God bless all y'all.

a brother in Christ.

I wanted to stop in and say how sorry I am for your loss. I started following the blog after Anna Claire Varnado told me about Lindsay. My daughter, Brigitte, is a frequent flier to 8south and 8east, so all us moms seem to come together somehow. I will be praying for your strength and peace to continue. Thank you for so openly sharing Lindsay's journey with us.

Hi Laura, Jon, & Tanner too!

I was talking to my son Philip today about Lindsay and he is 9 years old so he didn't really know Lindsay from church because they have been in separate groups. I asked him how he felt about Lindsay's death and he said that he felt said even though she wasn't a close friend of his. It was what he said next that made me stop and think. Mom, if you think about it all of us are here to fulfill a purpose for God. Lindsay fulfulled her purpose and now she is in Heaven; her job is complete. Of course, you will miss her and of course you will be sad, but you will always know that because of Lindsay people were brought into the family of God. How many people can have that kind of testimony? As you share your story with others, how many more will come to be in the family of God. One little girl can have a huge impact on the future.

We think our children are for our pleasure and we do get much joy from them, but they are not ours. Our children belong to God. Remember Hannah, she desperately wanted a child and she prayed and prayed and weeped for a child. She promised God that if he gave her a child, she would give that child back to God. God granted Hannah's petition and she faithfully returned that child and he bacame one of the greatest prophets of Israel, Samuel. How hard that must have been for that Mother. She only got to see her boy once a year and she made him that special coat each year. What a tremendous sacrifice that was for her. Samuel annointed King David and we know his name even today. God eventually gave Hannah five other children because he loved and cared for her. Samuel had a special job and perhaps Lindsay did too.

Lindsay was precious to you and she always will be. You will never forget her and her story is now your story to tell. Even though it seems hardly possible to imagine it now; one day you will be able to think of Lindsay and not cry. You will be able to look at a beautiful blue-eyed baby girl and rejoice with the parents of that baby. That day won't be today or tomorrow, but it will come through God's infinite grace in time. You know when times are good, it is hard to tell the difference between a believer and a non-believer. When times are dark and difficult, this is where faith shows itself in the believer.

I know you long to hold your precious Lindsay in your arms, but isn't wonderful to have Tanner. I remember not letting go of Steve for days when we lost Anna Rene. For nearly 15 years our lives revolved around infertility and so I knew many women who had never been pregnant or never carried a baby to term. I realized that God had given me a great husband and a healthy child and I was thankful for that. It didn't make my sorrow any less, but I realized that God had provided for me even in the darkest of times. My prayer for your family is that you might see the hand of God in your lives during this time. I hope you might see how he has provided comfort and solace during this dark time. We will continue to uphold your family in prayer. You have been a blessing to our church and to our family. We will not forget your baby and we will not stop saying her name just because she is with the Lord now.

God Bless,

Dear Jon & Laura, Tanner,
Bill & Jan, Warren & Phyllis
and family,

May the Lord comfort your hurting hearts during this time of loss and separation from precious Lindsay.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you.

In thinking of Lindsay, the Lord had brought this song to mind:

"Jesus, my heart's dear refuge,
Jesus has died for me;
firm on the Rock of ages,
ever my trust shall be.

Safe in the arms of Jesus,
safe on his gentle breast
there by his love o'ershaded,
sweetly my soul shall rest."

Jon, Laura and Tanner,

My name is Sharon Jones, a friend of Lori D.K. in CA. She has been sharing your story with me and I have been praying for you and your family. I will continue to pray for you.

The Lord has led me to these scriptures. Numbers 6:24-26 The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.

As believers in Christ we constantly look to the future and it is by the power of the Holy Spirit, our Helper, that enable us.

As the Apostle John saw and wrote "And I heard a loud voice from the Throne saying, Behold the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." And He who was seated on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." Rev. 21:3-5

Dear Jon & Laura,
I have been thinking often about Psalm 139:16 "All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be." God gave you Lindsay for just the number of days He planned to accomplish His purpose. How I wish for your sake and ours that it had been longer, but God is sovereign. His plan is perfect.

I grieve with you and pray for you! I pray for continued peace that is beyond understanding!

The sermon yesterday centered around 2 Corinthians 1, vs 3-7, The God of All Comfort
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5 For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 6 If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

I shared with Fenton how hard this passage was for me and he ever so gently reminded me that we still live in a sinful world and one that does not always make the most sense. What has astounded me the most is that even through times like this God turns tragic events into glorious moments for his kingdom. At the end of the day It is the power of God to transform a broken and lost world and to give us hope for that day when tears will be wiped away and suffering for his children ceases.

I continue to pray that God would especially strengthen you through your pain and loss.

Dear Laura, Jon and Tanner,
I don't know you but you are
family in Christ. Most of us can't
comprehend the pain you must be
going through. I can identify w/
Tanner however, as I have lost two
sisters myself. Things like this do
change us forever. Its only after
time that I could see how losing
my sisters has made me more
compassionate to other hurting souls. Please know that our hearts
are hurting with yours. Your precious little "Bear" was such a
sweet gift, although only for a
short time. Our human minds can't
see things as they really are, but
in time I believe the true picture
will become more focused: Sweet
Lindsay Bear bringing much joy in
Heaven, as she did on earth. Many of us won't have the privilege of
being there with you for Lindsay's
memorial service, but please know
we are with you in spirit. Sending
you tight hugs!!!!

Dear Laura and Jon,
I lost my Mom and brother when I was 11 and 14 years old. These were the hardest events that ever happened to me in my life. I was at a very young age when I really needed my mommy but God's plans were different for my life. I was freightened and I ran away from God and became very angry with him. I turned to an addiction of alcohol and drugs because I could not bear the pain anymore. I didn't have Jesus in my life to turn to nor did I want him. Later on in my life and became saved in my late twenties. God had a plan for me to find Him in my life and now I love him more than ever. Thank the Lord each day that you have a personal relationship with Him right now and He is right there with you both and holding you in the palm of His hands. Every time you feel weak just remember that Jesus is right there with you always. Never forget that during this very difficult time in your lives. The healing begins now with the strength and guidance from our Lord Jesus. Just ask him.
Love,

To My Brother Bill Welte and to the dearests of dearests, my brothers and sisters in the Lord, The Welte and Groen Families.
This morning after reading the news of Little Lindsay Groen.I was left numb, unable to make total sense of God, unable to express any words, unable write a message for Jesus Loves Me.

While I had never met Lindsay; as a father of 4 children, she became a real member of my family and a part of me over the past month in thought and in my prayers. Yesterday and today continued thoughts of Lindsay filled my mind and heart Lindsay I could but offer a prayer for the comfort for both of your families; Jon ands Laura and you and Jan. The Glory be Gods!

I thank Jesus for HIS Love of Lindsay. I thank Lindsay for bringing to reality the true frailty of this life; that are physical lives truly lie in Gods Hands as well as spiritual. Over The past week as I struggled with the thoughts of the coming end of my mother's life and that thought difficult to deal with much less the life of a child. My children, 10,12,14,15 are not mine, but belong to HIM. They are but a gift to me Linsday heightened my level of gratitude for not only my children's and my mother's life but my life also. I thank Jesus He has saved us all for an eternal rest with HIM.

Bill, thank you for showing me to look beyond the effects of one day to the enormity of God. God has used this precious child to teach us so much and I thank Jesus today He allowed me to see it through His eyes instead of mine and how a little girl you called Lindsay Bear, brought to life in our hearts what must be the only important thing left alive in us Jesus the Christ. I do not pretend for a moment to understand the rollercoaster and dynamics of what must have been an ocean of emotions but I glimpsed just a little. Where would have we been left without the Love that is Christ. I can't say but buried under what humanly is impossible to deal with.

Bill Thanks for sharing yourself and your Jesus that was there holding the Groens as well as you and Jan in HIS Loving arms and sharing what you were able to see through HIS eyes as you experienced this seemingly at times unneccessary part of life-the loss of a child. I am certain Her Mom and Dad will sing and dance with her again in the heavenlies. Thanks for teaching me.

Dear friends:
How I have come to love your family, through Lindsay her trials and victories. And now she truly has "Victory in Jesus" as the Colony men delight to sing! Lindsay was such an angel and such a trooper. I can't imagine how difficult it is for all of you; I have been hurting more than I can tell. And yet I know that the Lord is loving you ever so tenderly giving you His comfort and peace. It was quite a month, hard to describe, but my faith has only grown deeper as I would start my days and end them by reading the precious blog written by Bill. His ability to keep us informed was amazing and appreciated. So I will miss this but understand that the Lord had other plans, heavenly plans, for Lindsay. She is healed; hallelujah. My love will be with you tomorrow and the tommorows to follow. Joann from Mt. Laurel (a Freedom Fighter who loves a place called America's Keswick.).

Christ spoke much about little children, for He loved them dearly.

In Matthew 10:13-16, Mark10:13-16, and again in Luke 18:15-17 we see how Jesus using the thoughtless-ness of His disciples to make two points: (1) All people, even little children, are important to God, (2) The kingdom of God consists of those who respond to Him with the trust that a little child gives to a parent.

“Let the little children (babies) come to Me and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it”

Children are very special – No one can ever express the right words to you at this time, but Jesus can – “He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.” Jesus cares very deeply about children; so much so that He took “a time out just to love on them,” and “to express that they are the kingdom of God and all of us need to consider Him as our Father.”

Our prayers are with you during this time, and like Jesus, we wish we could be there to offer a hug.

Weeping may endure in the night
But joy cometh in the morning. (Psalms 30:6)

Good Night
Sleep on Lindsay Bear, Sleep, and take your rest; Lay down your head upon the Saviour's breast; We loved you well, but Jesus loved you best. Good night, Lindsay Bear, Good night! Good Night!

Calm is your slumber as an infant's sleep. But you shall wake no more to toil and weep. Your's is a perfect rest, secure and deep; Good night, Lindsay Bear! Good night! Good night!

Until the shadows from the earth are cast. Until He gathers in his sheaves to last, Until twilight gloom is overpast; Good night, Lindsay Bear! Good night! Good night!

Until the Easter glory lights the skies. Until the dead in Jesus shall arise. And He shall come, but not in lowly guise; Good night, Lindsay Bear! Good night! Good night!

Only good-night! Lindsay, not farewell, A little while and all his sons shall dwell. In hallowed union indivisible. Good night, Lindsay Bear! Good night! Good night!

Until we meet again before his throne. Clothed in the spotless robes he gives his own. Until we know even as we are known. Good night, Lindsay Bear! Good Night! Good Night!

Jon & Laura, I received this e-mail from a friend today & thought her words would encourage you!

"Their journey of faith with Lindsay has really put some things into perspective for me. I can not even imagine losing one of my children after having them here with me for this time. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to pray for Jon, Laura and Tanner. I think it is quite amazing that they could share so much of their life with people they did not know and know that there was such a great outpouring of love, prayers, compassion. Their faith truly is a testimony for all.

This has really reminded me that no matter what my burdens are at this moment, someone else has a much greater burden than I. In our small group we are studying the book It's Not About Me by Max Lucado. In the book he writes about our struggles and burdens, whatever they may be for each of us, and that God does not take those burdens away. Instead of taking them away he offsets them. He does this with an eternal weight of glory, endless joy, measureless peace. An eternity with Him. When we put our focus on Him and an eternity with him, everything changes! The burden becomes light. If life is "just a moment", can't we endure any of these things for "just a moment"? Can't we wait for our peace? It's not about us anyway!

I have really been convicted these last few days about my burdens and struggles and focusing on myself instead of on God and the one who can give me the grace to get through. By sharing their life with me, they have really helped me see the greater picture. Thank you again Donna for sharing them with us."

From my friend, Laurie!
Love ya, Donna Bitler

The men in the Colony of Mercy at Keswick have been praying for you all especially little Lindsay. They've grown in the Lord as they shared her illness, God's miracles and the testimonies of her parents' faith and others. One said he had been angry with God for taking Lindsay Home after so many people prayed, but he realized it was God's will... and God makes no mistakes. He has a plan for each life. Many hearts have been touched as they read of God's love. We won't know until eternity the impact of that little life. May you all be blessed with the strength, the comfort and peace that only He can give. We know that He will hold you close in His loving arms just as he did little Lindsay Bear when she arrived in Heaven. And special hugs and prayers for Tanner as he misses his precious playmate.
