Thursday morning update

This morning they are going to go back in to do another "cleaning" of the chest area, and the surgeon is going to check out the progress of the mitral valve surgery and explore some other options with the heart.

From my limited understanding of Jon and Laura's comment about Lindsay's being a "dire" situation, she cannot be on the ECMO machine for an indefinite period of time. Right now the team is thinking through every possible scenario because the clock is ticking.

The Berlin heart cannot become functional until the infection is completely gone. Until the infection is gone she is on the inactive list for a heart transplant. There was some talk about the remote possibility of doing some type of "bypass" surgery, which would obviously be better than a transplant.

This morning as I began my quiet time, I was crying out to the Lord for something fresh and new from His Word. These were the verses that God gave to me:

"The eyes of the ALL look expectantly to you." - Psalm 145:15. There are literally thousands praying for Lindsay from coast to coast as well as places like Tel Aviv, Israel - people we don't even know are praying for her.

"HE gives life, breath and all things. The Lord is good to all, and HIS tender mercies are over all HIS works. Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. The same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. I will lift up my eyes to the hills - from whence comes my help? Behold as the eyes of the servant look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God.

The Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him. It will be said in that day: 'Behold, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for Him; we will rejoice and be glad in His salvation. If we hope for what we do not see, then we eagerly wait for it with perseverance." (Acts 17:25; Psalm 145:9; Matthew 6:26; Romans 10:12; Psalm 121:1; Psalm 123:2; Isaiah 30:18; Isaiah 25:9; Romans 8:25)

I trust this update will be helpful in your praying. Thank you to the hundreds of you checking the blog and meeting the Lord with us at the throne of grace. We are all humbled and amazed at this outpouring of love and concern.

Please know that we check the blog throughout the day every day. All of you are on our hearts and in our prayers each day that God will give you HIS grace and strength moment by moment. It is so good to know that He knows and cares and is able, even when we are helpless.

Dear Groen/Welte families:
Although this is likely the hardest
thing you've ever been through, I
know that our Lord is right there
with you all. In the midst of our
deep sorrows and trials, He carries
us. I myself have been in a "valley" recently; yet I will not
give up hope!! We can all take
comfort in Christ's words: "in this
world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. We don't know what a day
will bring, but we KNOW THE ONE WHO
DOES KNOW!! God bless you all, and
keep you.

Wow! each day as I read about Linsay my heart aches for her parents. Several years ago, my daughter was in the hospital very sick and each morning the doctor would call and say "I don't know if she is going to make it" - The night our pastor sat with me and my husband and prayed with us was the first night I was able to sleep-I had to let go and let God. God does answer prayer-we just have to pray for His will.

Welte's and Groen's:
I am reminded this morning that as much as you are sensing the love and care being poured out to you from family, friends and strangers, it doesn't even begin to measure up to the love and care of your Heavenly Father. You have His undivided attention. That is mind-boggling. that with 6 Billion people in the world He gives each of us His undivided attention. You are on HIs mind today, moment-by-moment. My prayer today is for encouragement for your hearts, divine peace and rest.

Jon, Laura, Tanner, & sweet Lindsay, we continously offer up our prayers for each of you, know that Our Father loves you all so much. "Do you not know? Have you not Heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grw tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives STRENGTH to the weary and increases the POWER of the weak. Even yough grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope (to bind together, to be joined) will renew their strength. They will soar on wigs like eagle; they will run and not grow wery, they will wlk and not be faint". Isaiah 40:28-31.
Praying faithfully,
Greg, Gerri & Girls

Something I read this morning, "There are moments when God makes utter and complete sense to us, and then suddenly, life changes and he seems a foreign remnant of a childhood force-fed faith... 'Lord, give us eyes to see Your coming and going, ears to hear Your voice and Your silence, hands to hold Your presence and Your absence, and faith to trust Your unchanging nature in all seasons.'" - Elise Morgan (from When I Lay My Isaac Down by Carol Kent) I pray that today will bring more healing for Lindsay and rest for the rest of you. Hugs!! -Jenny

Dear Lindsay,
Every day we all pray for you! We pray that you will grow stronger & that God will do a miracle in your little life! Jesslyn, Julia, Joel & Jeremy pray for you regularly & ask for the update each morning. We love you very much!!

Jon & Laura & family--
We love ya! I can not imagine the ups and downs emotionally of the day in & day out with Lindsay & even those around her like Lance. I'm sure it's felt at times like the waters are swelling all around & threatening to wash over you... this morning God brought these words of comfort to me... "Come and see what God has done, how awesome his works in man's(Lindsay's) behalf! He turned the sea into DRY LAND, and they passed through the waters on foot-- come, let us rejoice in Him!" Psalm 66:5-6

This is our prayer for today as we claim victory through Him for you & Lindsay!

And to try to put a smile on your face-- Laura, I'd love to bring dinner & that dish I'm famous for... but I'd have to bring Brian, Julie & Josh too for old times sake. Love ya!
Donna & Brian & the little bits too

Jon, Laura, Tanner, and Lindsay
Mark and I continue to pray for your little girl each day. We have been keeping updated through Warren. I was just able to figure out how to get to this blog so we will be better able to pray more accurately each day. It is our prayer that her heart would heal and that the infection is just a temporary situation allowing the Doctors more time to rethink what God might have them do to aid in His healing her heart. I don't pretend to know God's plans, but what we do know from Hebrews is that God's desire is for us to enter His rest ceasing our labors and to rest in Him. We can do this because He is faithful and we can come to Him boldly in our times of need. (Hebrews 4: 10-16; Hebrews 11)Jon and Laura we pray that you can find rest because you are trusting in a God who central to His character is His faithfulness. We love you and will be continually praying for your little girl and the family. Love Mark and Debbie Helgeson
P.S. The pictures of Tanner and Lindsay are precious. They are both real cuties!

Laura,Jon,Jan,Bill,Phyllis,Warren,
My heart goes out to you. I've been where you are--not with a child but with my husband. I've been praying for the surgeon that as he opens Lindsay's chest again for cleaning + observation he will use his knowledge + experience to bring his attention to possibe positive answers to Lindsay's problems. Praying for Lindsay + the impact this is having on her small body. Also praying for you all for encouragement, strength, + peace. "...put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior + my God" Ps.42:11b
Love, Mary Ella

Dear Jon & Laura,Tanner & Lindsay, & Jan,
The blog is such wonderful thing for us so far away. It was great to see such a recent picture of Tanner--my, how he has grown! Sue ,Linda(Doug), & Le & I are having a rummage sale May 8 & I keep thinking of our last one we had when you guys were moving. Tanner was so good that day so we can picture his patience through all he has been through this last while . May God help him to understand in some way why all this is happening even though it is not easy for us as adults at times! I check the blog many times during the day & give Bertha & Joann an update whenever there is a new message. I have visited the "Berlin Heart" website & printed out some pictures for all of us.
We love all of you & pray Lindsay may be healed from her infection & start to heal,-but we know everything is in our Heavenly Father's Hand.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Ps 100:5
