Monday Afternoon Update

Here is the latest update on Lindsay:

Tomorrow afternoon they are scheduling open heart surgery. Dr. Myer is going to go back in a see if he can further repair the mitral valve or have to replace it. He will also try and do a bypass to hopefully get better blood flow to the heart. The procedure will be 5-6 hours in length and is obviously very risky. Of all the options available, this seems to be the most viable, though he repeatedly said that it is very, very risky.

The infection is still an issue and that is a cause for concern. They are planning to remove the ECMO cannulaes from the heart to either the neck or through the groin. This will enable the chest to have time to heal and rest.

I will let you know the exact time so you can be praying. Pray for the surgical team as they prepare and work through the different scenarios. The seriousness of the situation and the potential outcomes are obviously making it very stressful for Laura and Jon. Thanks for standing with us in prayer.

Laura and Jon,
What a blessed little girl to have you for her parents. All the many weighty decisions you've had to make for her these past weeks, how you've saught wise counsel and in prayer so carefully tread through these rough waters. Stand firm! HE will be with her all the way.
Her little picture is taped to my computer screen! Please kiss her for me!

For the entire staff, God bless you and may you see God work a miracle.

Laura, Jon, etc -
I emailed you today about a friend of FRC who had a heart transplant 13 years ago. After sending the email, I received another email from him, including the verse that sustained him and his wife through their very trying and uncertain trial:

Dt 31:8 "The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."

Be encouraged by that, and know that we continue to uphold you in prayer.

With Much Love,
Alyssa

I will be praying for the doctors and for Lindsay during the surgery. May God grant the surgical team wisdom, skill and peace during the procedure. I hope that everyone is able to get a good night's rest tonight. I'm looking forward to hearing how God amazed everyone!

I just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you from around the world. You have a beautiful little girl. I know every day must be incredibly hard but you and your family are doing an amazing job just making it through every day. During the really tough times just remember how many people love Lindsay and are praying for her and your family.

Dear Jon & Laura,
Several years ago, I had an opportunity as a lay person to be a featured speaker at the Harvard medical school during an endocrinology symposium. The purpose of the speech and the Q & A period was so that future doctors could understand disease in terms of how it affected the patient and their life. I'll never forget one of the questions I was asked. How does it feel to place all your hopes and dreams in the hands of a doctor? I answered that I never placed my hope in the doctors; my hope was in the Lord. I placed my life in their hands, but never my hope. God can always redeem our lives. I find that very comforting. Lindsay is and always has been in the palm of God's hands. These men and women will do their best for Lindsay but God will come along side them in a supernatural way to see that his perfect will is done. You guys have been such an inspiration to us all. It is during these difficult times that our faith is truly tested and we are baptised in our own tears and prayers. We will continue to pray for you all in earnest. Thank you for being willing to share this time with all of us so that we might walk beside you in the desert place. Always remember that even in the desert, God has continued to show us all cool springs and shade for brief moments of rest. Our God is good and he loves you both and he loves Tanner and Lindsay very much and so do we! Rest in God's peace tonight as only a child of God can do.
God Bless,
Lisa Pampreen

I was reading in my Bible this morning and this verse struck me for us, but I think it works well for you to. It is Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Laura, you are truly an inspiration to me. It was so amazing to see your sense of calm the other day. I pray that God will give you that peace even when Lindsay isn't having a good day.

We will be praying for you tomorrow.

Abigail says to Lindsay "We have to get you out of the hospital." She also wants Tanner to know that she will be there soon to take him out of the hospital as well.

Emma says - cracker.

God Bless You!

Dear Lindsay-

I have been praying for your surgery tomorrow and it started to seem very complicated to me for such a little girl. It was then that I remembered the simple prayers and God's love that we know so well. My prayer for you tonight, dear one, is simply-

Jesus loves you this I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong,
They are weak- but HE IS STRONG!
Yes, Jesus loves you,
Yes, Jesus loves you,
Yes, Jesus loves you,
The Bible tells me so.

I'll sing and pray these words for you- until you can do them all by yourself.

Love and prayers to your parents- may God fill their hearts with His perfect peace and comfort.

Love,
Aunt Sharon and Uncle Matt

laura and jon, we are on the way home right now as we stopped in Saugus to eat on our way out of town. We were just thrilled to see how the Lord is sustaining you through all of this. We praise God for the wonderful medical staff and supportive family that surround you. I wouldn't be surprised if Tanner becomes a doctor! Not to mention the education that you' ve received about pediatric cardiology! We are praying for you all! Take care, love pam and FAM

Dear Weltes and Groens - we continue to pray in earnest from Connecticut. Our children are especially good about it! I've had to words to a song I learned as a child, going through my head over and over - you probably know them as well . . .
He is able, He is able
I know He is able
I know my Lord is able to carry me through.
He is able, He is able
I know He is able
I know my Lord is able to carry me through.
He heals the broken hearted, and He sets the captive free, He makes the lame to walk again and He caused the blind to see.
He is able, He is able
I know He is able
I know my Lord is able to carry me through.

We know He's able to carry all of YOU through - that's evidenced by how far He's carried you already. He's brought you this far and He's not about to leave you now!! Know we share your tears and your joys - thanks for letting us know how to pray. We'll be praying continuously throughout Lindsay's operation tomorrow.

Just learned about the blog. Thank you for these updates. What a great blessing of this computer age.

Pastor updated us on Sunday and asked the church to keep you all in prayer.

I will be praying for Lindsay this morning as she faces this next procedure. Also for the Drs to give them wisdom that this risky procedure will be a success.

God Bless you and I continue to pray for Linday, her parents, Drs, hospital staff, and also, that your housing situation is working out as well.

See you soon.
